WMail

Beautifully native iPhone app for Fastmail

The calm, fast inbox built for Fastmail.

WMail talks native JMAP to Fastmail. Masked Email, aliases, and scheduled sends just work, the same as on the web. Then we add power-user features on top.

Fastmail’s best features, kept intact.

Most mail apps talk IMAP and quietly drop what makes Fastmail great. WMail talks JMAP directly to Fastmail, so nothing gets lost in translation.

Masked Email

Create a masked address as you sign up for something. Enable, block and browse them all without leaving the app.

Replies keep the mask

Mail that arrived at a masked address is replied from that address, so the company never learns your real one.

Send later, held by the server

Scheduled mail is handed to Fastmail, so it goes out with your phone off — and shows up in Fastmail’s web app too.

Private memos everywhere

Create or edit a memo on an email thread. See it across WMail and Fastmail.

Why not just use the Fastmail app?

The Fastmail app has Fastmail’s features. Apple Mail feels at home on iPhone but talks IMAP, so it can’t use them. WMail is a native iPhone app built on JMAP, you get all Fastmail's features plus power-user features only available in WMail.

Pause the inbox

An inbox that clocks off when you do.

Set a window that works for you. Evenings, weekends. And your emails are simply put away. Mail keeps arriving; you just don’t see it until morning.

  • Weeknights and weekends, on a schedule
  • Nothing stops syncing in the background
  • One tap to peek if you really need to
Weeknights 19:00 – 08:00
Weekends All day

Newsletter bundlesPro

Newsletters, when you want them.

Pick the senders and their mail skips the Inbox, waiting in its own folder. The Inbox gets one tidy row instead, delivered at a time you choose.

  • Bundle one sender or a whole domain
  • Delivered on the days and at the time you pick, with a notification
  • Mark one Done and it leaves the bundle

Quick reply

Reply without losing the thread.

A reply bar sits at the bottom of every conversation, with the original email right above it — no full-screen composer for a two-line answer.

  • Swipe it away and your half-written reply is saved
  • Switch to the full composer whenever you need more room

TemplatesPro

Your best replies, a shortcut away.

Save the replies you send again and again. Type a shortcut like ;thanks in the composer or a quick reply and it expands, with placeholders like {first_name} filled in for you.

And so much more.

Even more features with WMail. Most of them free.

Undo send

Sent an email by mistake? Don't worry, you can undo it. Set a short delay for messages to send so you have time to undo sending them.

Easy unsubscribe

If WMail can find a way to unsubscribe you, it shows a button so you can unsubscribe in two taps.

Block senders

If unsubscribe isn't enough or the sender doesn't offer the ability to unsubscribe, you can easily block a sender and move it straight to Trash.

Snooze

Push a conversation to this evening, tomorrow, or a time you pick. Snooze is handled locally on device due to limitations with JMAP.

Calendar invitations

Emails with an .ics attached get a calendar card at the top of the thread. Easily add it to an iOS calendar.

Memos

A private note on a conversation, so you can remember the context of a thread. Synced directly to Fastmail's private memos.

Default from address

Don't want to disclose your Fastmail account address? Set a default from address for all email threads you start.

Folders & sub-folders

See all your folders. Edit, delete them and even create and manage sub-folders.

Signature trimming

Signatures are a waste of screen space on mobile. WMail tries to trim these out of the way when it can. Tap to show them.

Dark mode

If you are a fan of dark mode, you will love WMail. Choose to manually switch or automatically switch based on your system settings.

Native iOS features

WMail is native to iOS. We are always looking at ways to take advantage of this. WMail supports Quick Actions, Control Centre and Widgets.

Disable remote images Pro

Easily disable loading remote images for all emails. So tracking pixels can't report you opened their emails.

Multiple accounts Pro

Add as many Fastmail or JMAP accounts as you like, each with its own colour ring, signature and aliases.

Integrations Pro

Email often means more than just email. WMail integrates with Reminders, Things, Bear and more. Easily add emails or links to these apps.

Custom swipe actions Pro

Customise swipe controls on threads to make the app your own and more useful for you. Make the actions you use quicker to access.

Questions & answers.

More questions & help →
Where do I get it?

WMail is a free download on the App Store. It requires an iPhone running iOS 26 or later and a Fastmail or JMAP account.

Do I need a Fastmail account?

You need a Fastmail account or any other JMAP server. Fastmail is the account WMail is built and tested against, and means you can use Fastmail-specific features like Masked Email. If you don't have a Fastmail account you can sign up for a free trial here and get 10% off your first year with our affiliate link.

Does it work with Gmail, Outlook or IMAP?

No, and it isn't planned. WMail is JMAP-only on purpose: everything it does well — real threads, send later and Masked Email — comes from JMAP rather than from working around IMAP.

How is WMail different from the Fastmail app or Apple Mail?

The Fastmail app gives you Fastmail’s features, and Apple Mail feels at home on iPhone — but it talks IMAP, so Masked Email, memos and server-held sends are missing. WMail is a native iPhone app built on JMAP, so you get both. Then it adds things neither has: pausing your inbox, quick replies and, with Pro, newsletter bundles and templates.

What does it cost?

All the core mail features are free. Fastmail features like Masked Email, snooze, send-later and undo send are included at no cost.

If you want to unlock power features like Templates, Newsletter bundles and Multiple accounts we offer a Pro plan for $3.99 a month or $34.99 a year (USA prices). We currently offer monthly, yearly and lifetime plans. See the App Store or the WMail app for up-to-date pricing.

Is WMail on iPad?

We've built WMail just for iPhone initially but we do have plans for an iPad version in the future.

How does WMail take advantage of being a native app?

WMail has Widgets, Control Centre actions and Quick Actions to make your life using Fastmail and iPhone better. For example we have a Control Centre action to quickly open up to make a Masked Email in the app.

Is my data secure with WMail?

We can’t read your email — there’s no WMail server for it to pass through. The app talks directly from your iPhone to Fastmail or your JMAP host, your API token is kept in the iOS Keychain, and nothing from your mail is ever sent to us. See our privacy policy for the details.
